The Church Of God In Christ Returns November 3-10 For Its 101st Holy Convocation

A century, plus one. 

The followers of Charles Harrison Mason's Church of God in Christ (COGIC)  return to Memphis for the 101st Holy Convocation Nov. 3-10.

Headquartered in Memphis, at Mason Temple, 930 Mason, the predominantly African-American faith brings some 23,000 delegates to the halls and meeting rooms of historic Mason Temple and the Memphis Cook Convention Center.

Emphasizing the word of God as stated in the Bible and placing strong emphasis on social and community involvement, the Church of God in Christ is the largest pentecostal denomination in the world. It not only operates two educational institutions in the U.S. (the Charles Harrison Mason Theological Seminary and the All Saints Bible College), COGIC also supports a large number of missionaries, pastors, churches and schools in 58 foreign countries.

Mason Temple, the denomination's flagship church, was the site of Martin Luther  King, Jr's final address, as well as President Bill Clinton's powerful "Memphis Speech."

The Metropolitan Memphis Hotel & Lodging Association welcomes the 101st Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ to Memphis. We are happy and proud to have you here, in the city where, in 1907, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason founded what is today known to be the largest African-American and Pentecostal church in the United States.

From its beginnings in 1907, with 10 churches in three states, the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) has grown to 6,000,000 members throughout the world.

The first National Holy Convocation of Saints, held in Memphis in 1907 at 392 S. Wellington St., was, as they are today, for worship, preaching, fellowship and church business.
What better place for that than a city often known as The City of Churches?

Once again, a warm Memphis welcome to all  the delegates of the  101st Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ.
